What lapse allowed Carlos Allen, the third party crasher, to sneak into the Obamas' first state dinner remains a mystery. What is known is that Allen—who has done everything from designing clothes to selling mortgages to running a questionable charity that existed mainly to throw parties—dressed even more formally than the president, in white tie, and used as camouflage a group of Indian business execs he ran into at the Willard Hotel. What was he doing there, Tucker Carlson asks in a dishy piece on the Daily Caller, his website that launched today. He made a stop to use the men's room, says his rep.
Allen finagled a seat next to the ambassador to Belize—even though he had no place setting—and was comfortable enough to update his Facebook status from the dinner, and later post Facebook pix of himself with Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and others at the event. He might have gotten away without notice at all if Michaele and Tareq Salahi hadn't gotten caught, Carlson notes. In fact, a month and a half later, the Secret Service and the State Department refuse to acknowledge his attendance.
