Giving new meaning to the term, "that's a wrap," a British TV company would like to film a terminally ill volunteer for a few months before they die—and then mummify them using techniques a scientist says are the same as those used in ancient Egypt. “We are currently keen to talk to someone who, faced with the knowledge of their own terminal illness and all that it entails, would nonetheless consider undergoing the process,” a newspaper ad reads.
The resulting documentary would delve into the science of mummification, the Daily Mail reports, and look at the exotic ingredients of the Egyptian ritual. But it would also follow the death of the volunteer, so viewers can “have a proper emotional response.” Fear not, wary applicants: “We have mummified a large number of pigs to check that the process worked,” a recruiter tells an undercover Telegraph reporter.
