Before he even announced his intent to run for president, Joe Biden found himself in the news for less savory reasons, facing down complaints from women who'd felt uncomfortable by unwelcome hugs, kissing, and touching by him. Now that he's officially in the running, the headlines don't appear to have doomed his candidacy, with CNN reporting on a new poll with good news for the former vice president. In what Politico calls "the Biden bump," an SRSS survey, which polled just over 1,000 respondents by phone from April 25 to April 28, found that 39% of those who considered themselves Democrats or Democrat-leaning independents said he's their pick for the Democratic nod.
Back in March, that number hovered at 28%. The next closest candidate, also polling in the double digits, is Bernie Sanders, but he's more than 20 points back at 15%. Elizabeth Warren comes in third, at 8%. Other Dem candidates are ranking as follows: Pete Buttigieg, 7%; Beto O'Rourke, 6%; and Kamala Harris, 5%. All of the other candidates come in at 2% or less.
