Full of clever ways to get kids to eat their veggies, Jessica Seinfeld's new cookbook, Deceptively Delicious, has been endorsed by Oprah and is already topping bestseller lists. But it has at least one detractor: Missy Chase Lapine, whose book The Sneaky Chef, published in April, is full of disconcertingly similar recipes, the New York Times reports.
Even the books' covers echo each other; both show a woman hiding carrots behind her back. Lapine was especially miffed that HarperCollins rejected her book only weeks before picking up Seinfeld's. Seinfeld countered that hiding spinach in brownies is common knowledge among crafty mothers; her husband added, "Let's be realistic—my wife isn't in this for the money." (More publishing stories.)
