It was do or die for the Red Sox last night, and this time they did. Josh Beckett posted 11 strikeouts and one walk in eight powerful innings, and Kevin Youkilis led a surging Boston offense with a triple and homer, reports the Providence Journal. The 7-1 win keeps the Sox alive in the series, which the Indians lead 3-2.
Indians ace C.C. Sabathia gave up four runs in six innings for the loss, his second of the series. Youkilis put the Sox on the board with a solo homer in the first. "With Josh Beckett on the mound, that one run might be all we need," he said. But Boston kept producing runs anyway, to send the series back to Fenway tomorrow. (More MLB stories.)
