Apparently calling in sick just wasn’t challenging enough for a Brooklyn teacher who decided instead to throw herself down the stairs in an effort to avoid a bad performance review, the New York Post reports. The untenured high school teacher, who already had one poor review under her belt, faced a classroom observation by her supervisor…and instead of hatching an excellent lesson plan to impress her, Ilene Feldman hatched a plan to get out of work entirely, an investigation concluded.
The Post has security video of 33-year-old Feldman pausing on a stairwell at the HS for Innovation in Advertising and Media, listening for someone to approach, and then faking her fall—which she blamed on a piece of gum. She filed for compensation for the four days of work she missed, but ultimately resigned when investigators confronted her with the video.
