Sarah Palin attacked Barack Obama’s foreign policy yesterday, declaring, in a speech before a crowd of talk radio fans in Norfolk, that the president had sold out Israel in the wake of the Gaza aid flotilla attack. “Do they think, really, that we’re getting anything in return for all this bowing and kowtowing and apologizing?” she asked, the AP reports. “No, we don’t get anything positive in return for this.”
“So while President Obama is getting pushed around by the likes of Russia and China, our allies are left to wonder about the value of an alliance with our country any more,” she continued. “They’re asking what is it worth.” Winding up the audience for Palin were Oliver North, who decried the country’s “headlong rush toward socialism,” and George Allen, who accused Congress of spending “like a drunken, bloated nanny.” Allen, who got into trouble during his reelection bid in 2006 for being reluctant to acknowledge his mother's Jewish heritage, jumped at the chance here. "We don't need to apologize as Americans," he said. "Americans throughout history have liberated more people than any other country on earth, including the liberation of my mother from the Nazis."
