Paul McCartney's playing the White House tonight and he thinks people should stop giving his host a hard time. "I’m a big fan, he’s a great guy," McCartney said of President Obama. "So lay off him, he’s doing great." McCartney, this year's winner of the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, will perform at a concert honoring his work along with Stevie Wonder, the Jonas Brothers, Faith Hill, and Dave Grohl, ABC News reports.

McCartney says he plans to have fun at the concert, although he admits he's a little nervous about playing "like, three feet" from the president. "It’s very special. It’s true, I’ve had some great awards, I’ve been really lucky on that score,” he said. “But for an English kid growing up in Liverpool—the White House—that’s very special."
