Pee-wee Herman is back, and headed to Broadway, the New York Times reports. Paul Reubens, 57, will revisit the character that made him a pop-culture phenomenon (and punchline) in the original setting: the live stage. The Pee-wee Herman Show originally started at LA's Roxy Theater, which led to his TV show and the Tim Burton movie Pee-wee's Big Adventure.
After nearly three decades, Reubens revived the Pee-wee Herman show in LA this January for a successful run that became his ticket to Broadway. “I can hardly believe it,” said Reubens, whose career took a hit after an indecent exposure arrest in 1991. “Honestly, I’ve been pinching myself.” (More Pee-wee Herman stories.)
