A mother of four from England was killed by her lover, a man she met on Facebook, weeks after he was arrested for assaulting her, the Daily Telegraph reports. He killed himself the same day. Stewart Shaw and Julie Sudlow, both in their 40s, met online in late 2008 and started a "whirlwind romance," police say. But it didn't take long for things to turn sour.
In July 2009, Shaw was arrested twice, once for hitting Sudlow and again after he violated bail conditions by texting her. After he got out a second time, the couple apparently patched things up and went on vacation. But the reunion was short lived. On Aug. 7, 2009, Shaw stabbed Sudlow to death, then threw himself in front of a train. "I can only speculate that the consequences, future capture and conviction, caused him to take his own life," a police official said.
