The world's most irritating piece of fruit is in the process of making its creator a rich man. The animated "Annoying Orange" series, which features a wisecracking orange that taunts other foodstuffs, was created less than 6 months ago and has already had more than 100 million views on YouTube. T-shirt and ad revenue is rolling in and a TV pilot is in the works for creator Dane Boedigheimer, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Boedigheimer's agent is looking into corporate sponsorship for the series, although he thinks the creator shouldn't "focus so much on the chopping" that finishes each episode as the orange's companions meet grisly ends—though it seems that's a big part of the videos' appeal. In one, a marshmallow named Steve screams as he's roasted alive. But one fruit escapes unscathed: the object-of-Annoying's affection, Passion Fruit.
