An Atlantic City high school punished students who engaged in a food fight with an unusual disciplinary tool: the dreaded cheese sandwich. After the melee, the cafeteria decided to teach the kids a lesson by serving only bare cheese sandwiches for 2 days. Parents protested what the Press of Atlantic City termed the "revenge of the lunch ladies," but to no avail.
The superintendent explains: "It's been the policy of the school board for many years that if there is a food-throwing incident, what occurs is we will supply the basic food requirement. It’s been effective over the years.”
