The prices of Masters tickets have gone waaaay over par, thanks to the participation of one Eldrick “Tiger” Woods. The New York Post reports seeing four-day tickets, which typically sell for about $2,500, going for $7,500, but as you can see from this screenshot, they’ve been offered for as much as $12,500 on eBay. “The Tiger effect has more than tripled prices,” says one broker. “I've had people from Korea, Russia, India, Australia, Britain, Thailand…People are back to liking him.”
But those people may not include members of the Augusta National Golf Club. In a stunning move, Club Chairman Billy Payne, whose annual address usually concerns titillating affairs such as green speeds, ripped Woods, saying he “disappointed all of us, and more importantly, our kids and our grandkids.” It’s probably less a personal attack, the New York Times notes, than a calculated statement made on the behalf of Augusta’s members, many of whom are CEOs of companies that once sponsored Woods.
