Entertainment / Avatar (film) Cameron Plans Avatar Prequel Sadly, it will just be a book—for now By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Feb 16, 2010 8:45 AM CST Copied In this film publicity image released by 20th Century Fox, the character Neytiri, voiced by Zoe Saldana, left, and the character Jake, voiced by Sam Worthington are shown in a scene from "Avatar." (AP Photo/20th Century Fox) Some Avatar fans (like the ones role-playing in this amazing video) have a bit of a hard time disengaging from James Cameron’s virtual world when the movie ends. Luckily for them, the auteur is planning a prequel—unfortunately, it’s just a book. “Jim wants to write a novel that is a big, epic story that fills in a lot of things,” a producer tells MTV, adding that it may be ready by the end of the year. “It would be something that would lead up to telling the story of the movie, but it would go into much more depth about all the stories that we didn't have time to deal with,” he continues, and if it’s successful, “We certainly have stories that are set before the movie opens and after. I think that what we want to do is find out what mediums those stories are best told in.” (More Avatar (film) stories.) Report an error
