On a flight leaving Vancouver this morning, Mitt Romney’s request that a passenger in front of his wife raise his seat for takeoff apparently rubbed the man the wrong way, and he threatened the former (and perhaps future) Republican presidential hopeful. The man became “physically violent,” a witness tells the Globe and Mail, and might have tried to punch Romney.
“Gov. Romney did not retaliate,” a spokesman says, and neither Romney nor wife Ann—who’d attended the Olympics’ opening ceremony—was injured. The incident occurred before the Air Canada flight got airborne, and the plane returned to the gate so the offender could be turned over to the Mounties.
