Former Colts and Rams running back will announce retirement Monday

The knee injury that sidelined Marshall Faulk last season has officially ended his career. Faulk will announce his retirement Monday, March 26, at the NFL owners' meetings. Faulk retires ninth in all-time NFL career rushing with 12,279 yards, and tied for sixth with 100 touchdowns. In 2000, he ran in a (since broken) record 26 touchdowns, and was named MVP.

Faulk rushed for the Indianapolis Colts from 1994-98, and the St. Louis Rams from 1999-2006.  But retirement won’t keep him away from the game: When his 2006-07 season was cut short after surgery, he went to work as an analyst for the NFL Network. (More Marshall Faulk stories.)
