Rumors True: John, Elizabeth Edwards Split

The rumors are confirmed: John and Elizabeth Edwards have legally separated. A friend of Elizabeth's, speaking on her behalf, tells the AP that she wants to move on with her life. And in an interview with People, Elizabeth's sister says she made the decision after meeting the love child of John and Rielle Hunter.

"She said, 'I've had it. I can't do this. I want my life back,'" says Nancy Anania. Elizabeth met Frances Quinn Hunter in December at a North Carolina hotel. The former candidate's wife is living in their Chapel Hill mansion, while he splits time between an annex of the mansion and their beach house. Elizabeth continues to undergo cancer treatments.
