The next time your boss makes you want to scream, go ahead and do it—sort of. A Swedish study shows that people who suffer in silence at work have twice the risk of a heart attack or heart disease compared to those who vent their anger. So-called "covert copers" are, quite literally, making themselves sick.
The study followed almost 3,000 male workers for more than a decade. Female participants exhibited the same pattern, but, because they have low rates of heart disease, results were inconclusive. But tantrums on the job aren't recommended for either gender. "I would not advise shouting at the boss," a researcher cautioned the Independent. It might be healthy, but it certainly won't help you get that raise.
