Kiss Dem Agenda Goodbye, Say Hello to Job Worries

The Obama administration is running out of time in its race to enact its liberal agenda before Democratic candidates start caring more about their own re-election than the party line, writes Kim Strassel. Tuesday's results show that Obama's power is weakening, and will be the tipping point for many "Blue Dogs and freshmen and swing-state senators," Strassel writes in the Wall Street Journal.

Nancy Pelosi is rushing through the health-care vote before worried Democrats get a chance to absorb the results and start distancing themselves from her agenda, but it may already be too late. "A lot of Democrats are getting a sneaky suspicion Pelosi is willing to sacrifice their seats on the altar of liberal government health care," Strassel writes. "Combined with the election results and Obama's falling poll numbers, this is no recipe for loyalty." (More election day November 2009 stories.)
