- Ferris Bueller's Day Off, "Bueller...Bueller...Bueller?": Matthew Broderick's direct address to the audience on how to fake a sick day, followed by an empty desk and a teacher droning Bueller's name, is a perfectly paced scene many 30-somethings can still probably recite verbatim.
- The Breakfast Club, dance scene: When "a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal" spend a day in detention together, what better way to show the bonds they've formed than through some slightly awkward rocking out?
- Pretty In Pink, "Try a Little Tenderness": "Duckie's" lip-synching performance "inspired a legion of overlooked male 'just friends' to express their feelings through pre-karaoke-era paroxysms of song." Most of those failed, too.
