Campaign treasurer Cynthia Hampton's salary doubled after she began an affair with her boss, Sen. John Ensign, the Las Vegas Sun reports. Federal election documents show that pay for Hampton—whose husband and son also worked for Ensign—jumped from around $1400 to $2800 a month early last year.

Hampton's husband, Doug, was a senior aide to the senator. Records show that he received a higher-than-usual salary in May last year, the month that he and his wife both stopped working for Ensign. The couple's 19-year-old son was hired to do "research policy consulting" for a political operation controlled by Ensign, and was paid $5400 before leaving the job in August last year, the month insiders say the senator's affair ended.
