Judge May Have Sued His Own Pants Off

Roy Pearson, the DC judge who sued his dry cleaners for $54 million after they lost his pants, may need to start tailoring his resume. A city commission informed Pearson yesterday that his reappointment is in jeopardy, reports the Washington Post. Though the pants trial made Pearson a national laughingstock, it's only one of many questions about his record.

Pearson was appointed to a 2-year term in 2005 and is under consideration for a 10-year term. Not helping his case: a heated feud with the chief administrative justice, whom Pearson has accused of trying to "knife" him. The commission's notification isn't the final gavel, though; Pearson has 15 days to file a rebuttal. (More Roy Pearson stories.)
