Close family and friends gathered this afternoon in a tiny white church in upstate New York to say goodbye to Natasha Richardson, the AP reports. The actress’ body was to be laid to rest near her grandmother’s grave after a private service at 2pm, reports the New York Daily News. Husband Liam Neeson, clad in a dark suit and sunglasses, served as one of his wife's six pallbearers.
Police and worldwide media poured into the small upstate New York town of Millbrook, where Richardson and husband Liam Neeson own a home and were married 15 years ago. Her casket left Manhattan yesterday morning in a silver hearse after a daylong wake, arriving yesterday at her 19th-century farmhouse, surrounded by hills and farms. Richardson's coffin bears an Irish claddagh symbol of “friendship, love, and loyalty,” the Daily News says.
