You might have noticed something odd about the United Nations assembly room last night: Instead of a country, each of the 200-plus delegate seats bore a placard with the name of one of the 12 Colonies of Kobol. That’s right, the Sci-Fi Channel commandeered the frakking UN for a Battlestar Galactica retrospective, attended by actors Edward James Olmos (Bill Adama) and Mary McDonnell (Laura Roslin) and moderated by Whoopi Goldberg, Entertainment Weekly reports.

There was much talk of the various political and ethical issues Galactica routinely grapples with, but the highlight came when one representative mentioned the UN’s mandate to safeguard human rights regardless of race or gender. An incensed Olmos ripped the UN for using race as a term of division. “There is only one race,” he thundered, “the human race. SO SAY WE ALL!” And the room chanted it back to him.
