Bernie Madoff's guilty plea Thursday won't be the end of the story, the Daily Beast reports. The feds are investigating 20 possible co-conspirators, including family members, writes Lucinda Franks. Madoff wants to preserve money for his wife and kids, and keep them out of trouble. But sources say that several people close to Madoff may have transferred money to their wives, laundering the transactions through an English bank.

"There should be at least 20 indictments," said one lawyer in the case. As for Madoff: “He is not reliable," said a source, complaining about his lack of cooperation. "He’s jerking everyone around. Every day he changes his tune about where the money went and where it is. He’s trying to protect his family.” Madoff's, wife, Ruth is thought to have received $70 million and now has her own attorney. (More Bernard Madoff stories.)
