You might view ABC’s The Bachelor as harmless fun. Think again. “It’s wrong. It’s just plain wrong,” Lisa Earle McLeod writes in the Huffington Post. “It violates the social order of the universe.” No, not because reality TV is evil or sexist. It’s simple: “The women are not supposed to chase the men. Men are supposed to chase the women. Who does not know this?”
McLeod is a card-carrying feminist, so spare her the “bra-burning snit.” The truth is, men don’t appreciate women unless they have to work for them; that’s why none of the Bachelors have actually married their chosen ladies, McLeod writes. If this isn’t stopped, naive young women everywhere will be “manipulated by a TV show to act as stupid and reckless as, well, young men.” (More The Bachelor stories.)
