Barack Obama shows no signs of forgetting his Chicago roots since winning the election: He divided the news media into “Cubs” and “Sox” sections for his news conferences yesterday and today, the Chicago Tribune reports. Assignments seemed to be random, much to the chagrin of Steve Thomma, a McClatchy reporter and longtime White Sox fan assigned to the Cubs section.
"In a crime against nature, your pooler—a genuine White Sox fan, a man who attended his first two-night doubleheader at the Old Comiskey in 1963, who sat behind third base for the 50th anniversary All-Star Game there in '83—has been assigned a seat in the Cubs section," Thomma wrote in his pool report yesterday. Obama today did his best to make it up to the man (see video).
