A wildfire engulfed 750 acres north of Los Angeles today and forced 1,200 people to flee, the Los Angeles Times reports. It also razed two houses and three motor homes. As helicopters water-bombed the blaze, officials said firefighters had “a really good handle” on it—but admitted the Santa Ana winds could spread embers and spark new fires overnight.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is unknown. About 450 homes were evacuated in Lopez and Kagel Counties in the Angeles National Forest. “It was scarier than hell because we could see those flames shooting up over the canyon,” said one man who fled his house early this morning.
