Minnesota's top prosecutors are now asking the public to help fill an information gap created by the FBI in the investigation of a deadly ICE shooting in Minneapolis. State Attorney General Keith Ellison and Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty on Friday urged residents to submit any evidence they have—such as videos, photos, or witness accounts—after the FBI cut the state's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension out of the probe, reports KARE 11.

The federal move, announced Thursday, means the BCA no longer has access to case files, key physical evidence, or interviews, a decision that has drawn sharp criticism from state and local officials. "This community expects to understand what the evidence is and the justification for any decision that might be made," Moriarty said, promising to collect, review, and share whatever material her office receives and to turn it over to the BCA.

She also pushed back on a claim by Vice President JD Vance, who said federal agents enjoy "absolute immunity" from state prosecution. "The ICE officer does not have complete immunity here," she said. She added, per the AP: "We do have jurisdiction to make this decision with what happened in this case. It does not matter that it was a federal law enforcement agent." Moriarty noted that while the BCA had some access to witness statements, the FBI seized the victim's vehicle, preventing state authorities from conducting or reviewing forensic testing.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, which reported receiving hundreds of calls demanding an independent inquiry, said it has offered to assist the FBI and the US Attorney's Office. But, it added, without access to physical evidence, investigative interviews, or other core materials, it can't conduct a thorough investigation. Moriarty said it was too early to determine whether prosecution will be warranted for Jonathan Ross, the officer said to have shot Good, per KTVN.
