A Disney stunt show in Florida briefly veered from scripted danger into the real thing when a runaway boulder prop headed straight for the crowd and slammed into a staffer instead. Video shared on TikTok and Reddit shows the fake rock from the "Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular" at Disney's Hollywood Studios suddenly bouncing off its usual path and barreling toward the audience.
As the prop rolls off a rocky ledge and closes in on spectators, a staff member sprints into its path and is knocked to the ground as he appears to brace for impact. Other workers rush in after he's hit, push the prop to the side, and help the fallen man. Audience members can be seen jumping to their feet as the scene unfolds.
Walt Disney World hasn't responded to requests for comment or provided an update on the staffer's condition. One person who said they were in the crowd wrote on Reddit that the cast member was able to walk afterward but was bleeding from the head. The incident is said to have occurred on Tuesday afternoon, with multiple angles filmed by attendees now circulating online.
"He literally saved our lives, that guy," one attendee who filmed the incident says in his video posted on TikTok. Social media posts suggest this isn't the first time the stunt has gone awry: A similar mishap involving the Indiana Jones boulder was reportedly captured on video last year. The long-running 30-minute show re-creates action scenes from 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, featuring explosions, fights, and the signature rolling-boulder sequence that, at least on the stage, is supposed to miss its target. TMZ also notes that the Florida theme park has been plagued with a series of recent deaths.
