Palin Warms up on Climate Change

Sarah Palin used her debut interview last night to soften her earlier position that global warming is not man-made, reports the Los Angeles Times. The Alaska governor had stated just a few weeks ago that she didn’t believe global warming to be human-caused. Her position is now closer to John McCain’s. “I believe that man's activities certainly can be contributing,” said Palin.

Reporter Don Frederick notes the continued hedging in the use of the words "can be" instead of "are." Still, Palin committed herself and McCain to addressing climate change, regardless of its cause. ABC News notes that she's still differing with her running mate on drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which McCain opposes. As Alaska governor, she's been an aggressive advocate.  “I think, eventually, we're all gonna come together on that one,” said Palin.
