An uncomplicated game called Cornhole is sweeping the Midwest, attracting players  from bars to church picnics. Competing teams toss 1lb bags of dry corn at a 6-inch hole carved into a wooden platform. Said to have originated in Cincinnati as a backyard diversion, Cornhole is now spreading to such cities as Milwaukee and Chicago, says the Wall Street Journal.

Also known as Bags or Baggo, the sport is played 2-on-2; each bag flung through the hole is worth 3 points, and the first team to reach 21 wins. A national Cornhole organization boasts 20K members, and leagues are vying for cash prizes, sometimes with corporate sponsors. Just completed: a mock documentary called "Cornhole: The Movie."  (More cornhole stories.)
