Tulsa County District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler survived a stabbing on Tuesday that officials allege was carried out by his 30-year-old daughter. In a Tuesday statement, Tulsa Police Capt. Richard Meulenberg said there was "a potential mental health crisis on the daughter’s side, and then that led to the assault on her father." He said firefighters had to put their hands on Jennifer Kunzweiler "to get her under control" and the police department's "family violence unit and our crime unit are investigating this case like any other case."
Meulenberg told NBC News that Jennifer Kunzweiler cut herself prior to stabbing her father multiple times. Upon her release from the hospital, she'll be charged with a count of domestic violence with use of a dangerous weapon, Meulenberg said. NBC also has a statement from Steve Kunzweiler: "Unfortunately today, I found myself in a situation that I hoped would never happen. Fortunately, my injuries are such that I am able to go home." The Oklahoman reports the 60-year-old Kunzweiler and his wife, veterinarian Dr. Christine Kunzweiler, have three daughters. He has been Tulsa County's district attorney since 2014.
