(This file has been updated throughout with new details.) It looks like Prince Andrew won't be going to trial. The prince's lawyer said Tuesday that a settlement has been reached with Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused Andrew of sexually assaulting her decades ago when she was a teenager, reports Bloomberg. Attorney David Boies revealed the tentative deal in a court filing in New York, per the AP, though he did not specify the amount Andrew would pay Giuffre. She sued Andrew last year, alleging that he assaulted her when she was 17 and traveling with Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has denied the accusation, and the new filing doesn't admit any wrongdoing, reports the New York Times.

Andrew also "intends to make a substantial donation to Ms. Giuffre's charity in support of victims' rights," says a court document, per People. "Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms. Giuffre's character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks." The statement further acknowledges that Epstein "trafficked countless young girls over many years" and that Andrew "regrets his association with Epstein, and commends the bravery of Ms. Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others." It adds that both sides will file to dismiss the suit once Giuffre receives the settlement. (More Prince Andrew stories.)
