A soccer star whose beloved Pomeranian was stolen and later returned has been ordered to pay the promised $30,000 he offered to whoever helped bring the pooch home. Per the Guardian, striker Daniel Sturridge was told by a court in Los Angeles, where the break-in occurred, that he owes an LA rapper known as Killa Fame the reward money following a default judgment that was given after Sturridge failed to respond to the complaint. Killa Fame, whose real name is Foster Washington, argued the photos of the dog, Lucci, that he shared on social media led to her safe return a day and a half after she was stolen.
Sturridge, who plays for Australia's Perth Glory, initially posted to Instagram in July 2019, writing "Yo, somebody please find my dog. I'll pay anything, I'm dead serious. I want my dog back, man." In a subsequent post, he offered “20, 30 grand” to whoever could help find Lucci. Per the Sun, the rapper says he was never contacted about the payment and has not been since the judgment. “I’m excited about it, I’ve been fighting this case for over a year, I can’t believe it’s over," Washington said. Meanwhile, the former Premier League star has come out on social media with suggestions Washington isn't the do-gooder he claims to be.
"On Christmas Day to have to relive the events of a robbery is shameful," Sturridge
tweeted Saturday, after another tweet in which he says his dog was returned with the help of an unnamed young boy. "Other people are trying to benefit for their own personal gain. Thank you to the young boy once again. This was 2 1/2 years ago and a crazy 24hrs. I’m very grateful lucci is back with our family. Love to all." For his part, Washington say he hoped to use the $30,000 to improve his life and "hopefully he pays up and doesn't try to appeal it."
