If anyone's trying to cancel Louis CK, he's not taking the hint. The stand-up comedian, who admitted to sexual misbehavior toward female colleagues in 2017, has a new video special. The fact that he was allowed to advertise it during Saturday Night Live's airing only added to the anger felt by people who wondered online why he and other men seem to plow ahead with their careers as if their abuse never happened. A journalist tweeted that after the revelation, Louis CK "went right back to work and no one blinked," the Decider reports. "So quit whining about cancel culture, because it's a myth," she added.

He has stayed offstage for periods of the past four years, but he's resurfaced regularly with tours and specials. Even the careers of men who admit the accusations against them are true don't suffer harm, Rachel Leishman writes in the Mary Sue—an option she says isn't available to their victims. Jeffrey Toobin's name came up in the tweets, too. Louis CK and Marilyn Manson, who faces accusations of his own, were nominated last month for Grammy Awards, per USA Today. "We won’t look back at people’s history," the head of the Recording Academy said.

For some viewers, the NBC commercial broke the spell of the holiday special, put on mostly without the show's usual cast and crew and the scheduled musical guest because of the COVID surge in New York City. "I'm watching SNL valiantly attempt to put on a show in the middle of a Covid surge and NBC just showed a commercial for Louis CK's next comedy special," another post said. "Absolutely cursed stuff." Leishman suggested watching a female comedian's show instead. (More Louis CK stories.)
