In an excerpt of her memoir Bad Republican, Meghan McCain writes that a nasty back-and-forth on the air with co-host Joy Behar was the beginning of the end for her on The View. "Call me naive, but when I came back to work after having a baby, I expected to be treated with respect," she adds. "It had taken me so long to get healthy again." McCain writes that she was long used to being the lone voice on the right during her stint on the show—"you can't imagine how it messes with your self-esteem working in an environment where the worst thing you can be in the world is a Republican during the Trump years"—but she says the way she was treated worsened after she had her baby.
