(AP Photo/Martin Meissner) An allotment garden near Hanover, Germany is being dug up in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, authorities have confirmed. Investigators could be seen at the site Tuesday guiding a sniffer dog around the garden and putting possible evidence into plastic bags, the AP reports. A man already serving a sentence for sex crimes in Germany was identified last month as a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of the British 3-year-old in Portugal, where he lived for many years. Work at the site is expected to continue until Wednesday, reports the BBC. The 43-year-old suspect, identified by German media as Christian B, was last registered living in Braunschweig, around 40 miles away from Hanover. (Prosecutors believe the man could also be linked to the disappearance of a 5-year-old girl in 2015.) Report an error
