Shep Smith Might Be Going to MSNBC

MSNBC is mulling a shakeup that would give Chuck Todd a morning slot and bring in Fox News fugitive Shepard Smith—if, that is, the network can snag him. MSNBC insiders tell the Daily Beast that several networks want Smith, who quit Fox News last year, but no one's saying exactly what he'd do on the left-leaning network. "It's unclear what slot he would take, but we'd want him in prime-time,” says an MSNBC source. "We are well aware [Jeff] Zucker [president of CNN] is also pursuing him, as are a number of the networks." If Smith picks MSNBC, Chuck Todd's 5pm show MTP Daily might take its low ratings to a 9am slot, as the New York Post recently reported. But word is Todd doesn't want it, and his staff isn't thrilled at the prospect of a demanding morning time slot. (Last year, Smith opened his wallet to fight "garbage and lies.")
