The Incredible Hulk will become a New Mexico sheriff's deputy, and Lou Ferrigno said this is for real. "People assume it’s just an honorary thing," the actor and bodybuilder said. "It isn’t, because I’m certified and I have police powers which I'm very proud of." The actor and bodybuilder will join the Socorro County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday, the Guardian reports. He'll mostly be on desk duty as a recruiter but could be called to help in the field. Ferrigno, 68, said he's ready to be "a real-life hero" after his training. "I went through all the driving, the shooting, the studying," he said.

Ferrigno's relevant experience goes beyond playing the Hulk—and Bruce Banner—on his late-1970s TV show. He's been a reserve deputy in California and patrolled the border as a volunteer with former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio's posse, per Fox News. The former Mr. Universe also has been a fitness coach and motivational speaker. But this is closer to his dream job. "My whole life I’ve always wanted to be a sheriff," Ferrigno said.
