Two journalists have apologized for mocking the appearance of Blue Ivy Carter, Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter. Vanity Fair film critic K. Austin Collins and Harper's web editor Violet Lucca made the scathing comments Wednesday after rapper Megan Thee Stallion posted photos of herself with Beyonce and Blue Ivy, who turns 8 next week, NBC reports. "I have a feeling the jay z face genes are about to really hit Blue Ivy and I feel so sorry for her," Collins said in response to Stallion's tweet. "They haven't already?" Lucca replied, adding: "Or she’ll just get plastic surgery at 16 a la Kylie Jenner and we’ll all have to pretend that she always looked that way…I can’t allow myself to feel too sorry for the incredibly rich!"
Both journalists apologized and deleted the tweets after they went viral, Page Six reports. "I'm sorry about the Blue Ivy tweet—bad joke, and black girls in particular deserve better," tweeted Collins, who is black. Lucca also apologized eventually, though she complained about the all the criticism she was receiving online. "Children of famous ought to be off limits, but time and again they haven’t been," she tweeted. "So I said something petty and have been called ugly, old, and a racist." She later said: "I truly believe Blue Ivy will go to the grave without knowing who I am, which is neither here nor there, but on the off chance she sees it—I'm sorry, young lady. You're gonna go far no matter what." (More Blue Ivy Carter stories.)
