Kicking back and welcoming the weekend turned violent early Saturday morning in Indiana near Ball State University after a shooting that left at least seven injured. Muncie Police Chief Joe Winkle said at least three people suffered life-threatening injuries from the shooting that took place at a house party of about 50 to 75 students and local residents just minutes from campus, reports CNN. Four other victims sustained injuries that weren't as serious.
"It was a party with a DJ," Winkle tells FOX59. "Evidently there was some kind of a confrontation inside the house [and] it turned into a shooting," which took place around 1am. He notes the DJ may have been the draw for such a large crowd. Shortly before 2am, Ball State sent out a notice that "there is no ongoing threat to campus. Resume normal activities." At least one person has been arrested, but details are so far scarce. (More shooting stories.)
