Britney Spears' recent stint in a mental health facility wasn't exactly stress-free. The 37-year-old singer, taking time for herself amid her father's health woes, has been granted a new restraining order against former manager Sam Lutfi, described in her filing as a "parasite" who "began a new campaign of harassment against Ms. Spears and her family" soon after she checked in. He's accused of sending a threatening text to Spears' mom, making "disparaging and threatening comments on social media and in interviews," leaking "(actual and fabricated) private information"—something Spears alluded to in April—and pretending to "have a professional relationship" with Spears, per E!
The 44-year-old Lutfi, whose lawyer argues the restraining order violates his constitutional rights, has been kept at a distance since Spears was placed under a still-active conservatorship in 2009. Yet the filing further claims Lutfi has urged his 41,000 Twitter followers to carry out "harassment indirectly on his behalf" in an effort to "free" Britney from the arrangement. "Ms. Spears is in a court-ordered conservatorship to protect her," Spears' filing states. Yet the #FreeBritney chant is being echoed by worried fans and celebs. Miley Cyrus shouted "Free Britney!" at a Saturday concert in Memphis. USA Today reports the moment came as Cyrus sang "Party in the USA," which makes reference to "a Britney song."
