Woman Found Dead, Nearly Decapitated, in Possible Ax Attack

A woman was found dead and partially decapitated in a Brooklyn apartment, after apparently being attacked with an ax in what police say was a "brutal, vicious attack." A man in custody faces murder charges, WNBC reports, and a 4-year-old girl in the apartment was unharmed. An Uber driver called police early Saturday after being flagged down by an injured woman, the mother of the 4-year-old, who had been in the apartment, per CNN. They found the body of Savannah Rivera, 20, inside. Investigators suspect the girl's father went to the apartment and began quarreling with her mother, then attacked Rivera. The injured woman escaped to the street. Police say an ax was thrown down a trash chute. The child is with relatives, CNN reports. (Six people were killed with an ax in China.)
