US Should Welcome New World Order
Soon, America won't be the world's dominant force - and we should be okay with that, Fareed Zakaria argues.   (Shutterstock)

The age of American dominance is ending, and Americans should be fine with that, writes Fareed Zakaria in his new book The Post-American World. In an excerpt in Newsweek, Zakaria argues that America’s long-preached globalization gospel has produced a prosperous “post-American” landscape. “It is the rise of the rest—the rest of the world.”

“The post-American world is naturally an unsettling prospect for Americans, but it should not be,” he writes, because the movement grows out of peace and prosperity. However scary the world seems, violence is at an all-time low, and 124 economies grew by over 4% last year. “If the world that's being created has more power centers, nearly all are invested in order, stability and progress,” he reasons.
