A terrorist group seeks plutonium bombs in Mission: Impossible - Fallout, the sixth film in the series for those counting. You can surely expect another: Critics have given the Christopher McQuarrie-directed film a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Here's what they're saying:
- "Mission: Impossible - Fallout knocks itself out to keep you awake and entertained. The result is a film that won't make a dent in cinema history but … is impossible to resist," writes Rex Reed at the New York Observer. He refers to Henry Cavill as laughable—not in a good way—but praises "the eternally youthful" Cruise. "With the star behind the wheel, there is never so much as a stripped gear or a flat tire."
- Though the flick is probably longer than it needs to be, "it's hard not to admire just how much spark this long-running fuse still has left in it," is Brian Lowry's take at CNN. After more than two decades as Ethan Hunt, Cruise remains "perfectly good" in this "slickly assembled, well-oiled adrenaline rush," which includes a few action sequences that are "pretty dazzling."
