Michael B. Jordan picked up the "best villain" prize at the MTV Movie and TV Awards, but he joked that it could have gone to someone more villainous than Black Panther bad guy Erik Killmonger: Roseanne Barr. "I'm shocked that I won this award for best villain," Jordan quipped, per Variety. "I thought for sure Roseanne had that in the bag." The audience "gasped with delight" at the unexpected poke at Barr, whose show was abruptly canceled after she tweeted a racist remark last month, Deadline reports. Black Panther won "movie of the year" at the awards, which were presented Saturday and broadcast Monday.
Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman won "best actor in a movie," as well as "best hero." He gave the latter award to James Shaw Jr., who wrested the weapon away from the gunman in April's Waffle House shooting, the AP reports. The award for playing a superhero on the screen is an honor, but it's important to "acknowledge the heroes we have in real life," Boseman said. On the TV side, Stranger Things was the biggest winner with four awards, including "show of the year"—for the second time—and "best actor in a show" for Millie Bobby Brown.
