Media / Samantha Bee 2 Companies Pull Ads From Samantha Bee's Show Roseanne doesn't like the comparison By Rob Quinn, Newser Staff Posted Jun 1, 2018 5:22 AM CDT Updated Jun 1, 2018 6:49 AM CDT Copied Samantha Bee, host of "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee," is interviewed at the Writers Guild Theatre, Thursday, May 24, 2018, in Beverly Hills, Calif. (Photo by Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP) Samantha Bee still has a job, despite conservative calls for her firing over a rude remark about Ivanka Trump, but her show is down at least two advertisers. Autotrader and State Farm announced Thursday that they are suspending their sponsorship of TBS's Full Frontal, CNN reports. Calling the president's daughter the c-word was "offensive and unacceptable," Autotrader said in a statement. Bee, along with cast members and execs from six other shows, was due to be honored at a Television Academy event Thursday night, but members of the media were told that they would not be allowed into the reception "as a result of today’s events involving Samantha B.," according to the Hollywood Reporter. Bee has apologized and TBS says airing the remarks was a regrettable mistake. CNN's Brooke Baldwin was among the many commentators criticizing Bee on Thursday, the Week reports. She said her language was "unacceptable" and agreed with critics who said the reaction shows a double standard. Critics said TBS should cancel Bee's show as ABC cancelled Roseanne, but it wasn't a comparison Roseanne Barr welcomed, the Los Angeles Times reports. "Please don't compare me2 other people who have said horrible things," she tweeted Thursday, apologizing once again for the hurt she "unwittingly & stupidly caused" with her remarks about Valerie Jarrett. She also promised that she would stay on Twitter "to try and help build a movement of grassroots ppl who wish 2 solve the problems of this neighborhood, The USA." (She has also said she might fight back against her firing.) Report an error
