Source: Allegations Could 'Sink' Trump's VA Choice

Democrats say they are discussing some "raw allegations" against Ronny Jackson, President Trump's nominee to head the Department of Veterans Affairs—but they're not saying exactly what those allegations involve. "All I can really tell you at this moment is we are continuing the vetting process," Sen. Jon Tester, the senior Democrat on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, told CNN after a meeting Monday. "We are working very hard at it. It's all hands on deck." Sources tell CBS that current and former employees accuse the White House physician of misconduct including "excessive drinking on the job" and "improperly dispensing meds."

If the allegations are true, "it'll sink his nomination," one source says. Senators said Monday that Jackson's confirmation hearing, originally scheduled for Wednesday, has been postponed, with no new date set. The Washington Post reports that lawmakers from both parties had concerns about Jackson's experience and qualifications. The Navy rear admiral has served three administrations as White House doctor, but critics say he lacks the managerial experience to head an agency with 360,000 employees.
