A couple of hours before the stock market opened, President Trump tweeted, "Stock Market hits new Record High. Confidence and enthusiasm abound. More great numbers coming out!" He was right: The Dow Jones Industrial Average crossed the 24,000 threshold for the first time, and the S&P 500 hit a record, too, opening at 2,635, reports MarketWatch. It notes November will mark the 13th consecutive month of gains "on a total return basis."
The AP reports some early-morning standouts: JPMorgan Chase was up 1.1% and UnitedHealth rose 1.2%. Supermarket operator Kroger jumped 11.5% after reporting a strong quarter, and arts and crafts store Michaels soared 17.6% after its own results came in ahead of forecasts. The Dow is trading at 24,025 as of this writing. (More Dow Jones stories.)
